It’s such a great week for Kimerald fans. They were greeted last Monday, October 24, with exciting news that their dream of a reunion project between Kim Chiu and Gerald Anderson is finally coming true. It has been revealed by Dreamscape Entertainment that the former loveteam are getting back together on the small screen via the much-anticipated primetime series “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin.” The two will be joined once again by Jake Cuenca in a story about triathletes and their quest for love and the fulfillment of their aspirations. And while we eagerly wait for “Ikaw Lang ang Iibigin,” let us look back on Kimerald’s unforgettable teleserye journey.
1. Sana Maulit Muli (2007)
This is Kim and Gerald’s first major teleserye after their remarkable debut in Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition back in 2006. They played Jasmine (Kim) and Travis (Gerald), two lovers who are ill-fated. Jasmine dies in an accident after she gives up on her feelings for Travis to give way for her younger sister, Camille (Erich Gonzales). Devastated, Travis goes back in time to save Jasmine, but in trying to set everything right, he brings harm to other people instead including himself. When Travis dies in her place, Jasmine also decides to travel back to their happiest moments together.
2. My Girl (2008)
My Girl is a remake of the hit South Korean romantic comedy series of the same title. Jasmine (Kim) is a street-smart and hardworking girl who is always trying to save her father from trouble. She accidentally meets Julian (Gerald), the new president of Amana Hotels, and ends up as his Chinese translator. Julian then asks Jasmine to pose as his long-lost cousin, Hannah (Nicole Uysiuseng), to fulfill his grandfather’s last wish. Things become complicated when they grow closer because of their ruse and start to fall for each other.
3. Tayong Dalawa (2009)
Gerald Anderson and Jake Cuenca are half-brothers who share the same name, David Garcia, Jr. They grow up unaware of their blood ties. As destiny would have it, JR (Gerald) and Dave (Jake) become friends and enter the Philippine Military Academy together, where they graduate at the top of their class. The truth finally comes out when their father, David Garcia, Sr., attends their graduation. JR and Dave’s fates become even more entangled when they fall in love with the same girl, Audrey King (Kim).
4. Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo (2010)
Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo is a star-studded family melodrama. Celine (Kris Aquino) is grief-stricken after hearing the news that her husband, Frank (Albert Martinez), died in a plane crash. She is hurt even more when she finds out that Frank had a mistress who bore him a son. Heartbroken, she becomes friends and later falls in love with Steve (Gabby Concepcion), an NBI investigator assigned to Frank’s case. They start a relationship and Celine gets pregnant with Gwen (Kim). But in a bizarre twist, Frank comes back alive. Celine then chooses to end things with Steve and save her marriage to Frank instead, letting her husband believe that Gwen is his daughter. Years later, Gwen crosses paths with Robbie (Gerald). They start out hating each other but end up falling in love. However, complications arise when Robbie turns out to be almost a son to Steve, who is now married to Robbie’s elder sister, Celina (Maricar Reyes).
