If gazes and eyebrows could kill, renowned character actress Dionne Monsanto, who skyrocketed to fame for her compelling portrayal of the wicked lead antagonist Lucy Villadolid in the 2016 soap opera Tubig At Langis, could have already slain many because of her killer glares and always on-fleek eyebrows.
Those who were able to follow her journey from being one of the controversial housemates of Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 to becoming one of the bankable and versatile actresses in the local entertainment scene would know that she has been brandishing the same fierce and intimidating look that could make anyone feel daunted towards her. At the same time, the ever-fierce façade she wears also depicts how a strong woman she is.
Since it’s seemingly effortless for her to appear villainous, and is complemented by her unmistakable acting prowess, it already didn’t come as a surprise when she was bestowed kontrabida roles in a number of teleserye and movie projects through the years. These include Super Inggo 1.5: Ang Bagong Bangis (2007), Tubig At Langis (2016), and in The General’s Daughter (2019).
When asked by Luis Manzano about the secret on being a highly effective antagonist during her appearance on the now-defunct Kapamilya game show Family Feud, the 34-year-old actress disclosed, “Siguro kailangan mong i-channel ‘yong inner maldita mo,” as she firmly believes that there’s always good and bad in anyone. Furthermore, it can also be recalled that Dionne’s performance in Tubig At Langis was commended by the Optimum Star Claudine Barretto via an Instagram post in 2016.
She might always look villainy, but Dionne is actually affectionate especially when it comes to her family, friends, and beloved Filipino-Swedish beau Ryan Stalder, and a fun-loving person and adventure junkie as well.
