After swooning us as the sweet and reliable electrician named BG in the iWant digital series My Single Lady broadcast on ABS-CBN a few weeks ago, Zanjoe Marudo is currently making us fall in love again in his Tubig At Langis character Natoy as the teleserye is being re-aired on Primetime Bida.
Just like his character, the hunk heartthrob is also a probinsyano in real life and is very much proud of it. He may usually exhibit sophistication and elegance, but he’s seemingly someone who’s very much adept when it comes to living the rural life since he grew up in the scenic city of Tanauan, Batangas.
In one of his interviews in CinemaOne last year, he gleefully recalled how he typically spent his vacations in his hometown in his younger years.
“Sa Manila pagkatapos ng school, then ‘pag weekends [at] ‘pag summer, nasa Batangas. [Sa] Bukid nagtatanim, nagdadala ng food, sa lolo’t lola. Kapag tanghali, kukuha ng buko, gano’n, sumasakay ng kalabaw, naglalaro sa initan,” he relayed.
Now that he’s all grown-up and is among the most sought-after leading men in the country, Zanjoe is putting his hard-earned money into good use as he disclosed during his guesting on Tonight With Boy Abunda that the construction of his rest house then was in full swing. He chose to erect it within the small mango farm he acquired years ago in their town, which would serve as his sanctuary away from the city and even as a venue for their family gatherings.
But going through his Instagram posts, it’s not only in Batangas that he’s able to have quick and fun escapades for he’d also gone to other picturesque countryside here in the Philippines and abroad. As humble as he is, the 37-year-old actor tries to blend in with the locals by doing their usual activities, like roasting lechon, farming, and playing street basketball. Besides, he also made sure not to miss doing other activities, such as going around by riding on a motorbike and swimming.
Of course, just like us, his trips wouldn’t be complete without hanging out with his companions, who were either his family or close friends.
Keep on showing your love for Zanjoe by not missing an episode of Tubig At Langis, weeknights on Primetime Bida!
