In 2016, Zanjoe Marudo starred with Angel Locsin and Sam Milby in the romantic-comedy film “The Third Party.” It tells the story of exes who remained good friends after the breakup. But, as it turns out, even a post-breakup friendship can also be complicated.
Zanjoe guested on Tonight with Boy Abunda (TWBA) to promote this movie. And in light of this plot, he was asked by Tito Boy about his views on befriending an ex-girlfriend. Zanjoe is one to find happiness in self-love. Besides, he also has his family and friends to make him feel better.
The veteran host then asked his guest, “In real life, important ba, sa iyong pananaw, na kaibigan mo ang iyong ex?” Zanjoe said it depends on many things, like probably the level of relationship and post-breakup pain.
For his part, Zanjoe doesn’t hate any of his exes but he can’t put label on their relationships, either. “Wala akong kaaway na ex. Hindi ko lang masasabi na friends ko sila pero ‘pag nakasalubong ko sila, hindi ako iiwas. Pwede akong makipagkwentuhan. Pwede akong makipag-kumustahan. “
Zanjoe can act civil or casual in front of an ex-girlfriend despite a hurtful breakup as part of healing. “Kailangan mong harapin ‘yun. Kailangan mong mag-move forward. Kailangan umpisahan mo na okay kayo,” he added.
Watch out for Zanjoe’s new takes on love and relationships in The Broken Marriage Vow with Jodi Sta. Maria and Sue Ramirez soon.
