While still inside the Pinoy Big Brother house, the “Palanggiteen Dreamer ng Camarines Sur”, Yen Quirante, developed special friendship with housemate Shoichi Oka. Their team-up started with a series of quarrel and misunderstandings. Yen admits Shoichi used to act like a selfish guy who doesn’t know how to own up to his mistakes. But, he eventually changed his ways; igniting Yen’s admiration.
Now that they’re both out from Bahay ni Kuya, Yen reveals Shoichi has even become sweeter. Just the night before the interview, she got kilig when she received her favorite cup noodles from Shoichi.
Yen sounded too grown-up while talking about her life story in her first TWBA guesting. The 16-year-old dreamer lost her father in 2015 and since then, she had no choice but to embrace independence and maturity at a young age. She used to work as an all-around staff in a restaurant, doing tasks from cooking to dishwashing.
She also worked in a piggery and Yen would never be ashamed of that fact, saying it has become a big help in supporting her studies. She managed to survive all these sacrifices for the sake of her family whom she constantly talks about.
When Yen chanced upon the announcement of Star Hunt auditions in Naga City, she instantly decided to try her luck. But, she knew her mother wouldn’t allow her to do so. Yen says a 200-peso fare going to Naga is already a dilemma and the place is too far from Camarines Sur. So, she had to make a lie, telling her mother that she’s just going somewhere for a majorette practice.
