It did not only become the airwave’s hottest hit but it also spawned the infectious online madness called ‘Dalagang Pilipina Challenge’.
The craze was pioneered by a netizen nicknamed mimiyuuh who uploaded a video of himself bearing “pa-cute” facial expressions while the song ‘Dalaga’ plays in the background. Since then, the fad has become louder and even celebrities gamely plunged into it.
Known for spearheading the discovery of mainstream media’s freshest materials, the It’s Showtime family quickly gave in to the novelty trend. Certainly, Vice Ganda owned the challenge and sprinkled it with his personal style by doing exaggerated facial expressions only the Unkabogable Star could pull off.
Yet, Vice generously shared the spotlight with his fellow hosts and even to Jackque “Ate Girl” Gonzaga, Stephanie “Stephen” Robles”, and Ion “Kuya Escort’ Perez. Among the three, it was Stephen who tickled Vice’s funny bones the most.
Vice was totally amused with Stephen’s overly ‘pabebe’ pout and winks. Since then, the madlang people have always craved for Stephen’s entertaining antics.
TWBA May 1 episode opened with the quartet Allmo$t performing their hit single ‘Dalaga’ with Stephen providing the theatrics to the song’s lyrics. As the show continues, Stephen takes on the hot seat to answer the most controversial questions such as the never-ending debate about her true gender.
