While most young women her age would obsess over big breasts to look sexy, Kapamilya actress Julia Barretto boldly says she is proud of being flat chested. In fact, her breasts were never an issue to her, so she doesn’t really get offended when bashers point out her less gifted bossoms.
In a past interview, Julia has already mentioned her preference of not wearing bra at all times because “walang kinakapitan”, as how she puts it. For instance, Julia is known for using nipple tapes and under garments with built-in padding. “I’m comfortable this way. Mas happy ako sa katawan ko na ganito”, Julia relates.
Surprisingly, that moment has marked Julia as a champion of women empowerment. Her oozing self-confidence made her shine as an ambassador of women who don’t rely on the society’s standards just to look and feel sexy.
Julia has since then become an inspiration to girls with body issues. Other netizens would tag her in their photos, saying they became a lot open about their flaws due to Julia’s encouraging take on sexiness.
In fact, Julia gamely auditioned for the highly-coveted Darna role even if some bashers still point out that the Darna costume won’t fit into her breasts, which she also admits so. In her interview, Julia was asked to re-enact her Darna audition while wearing a piece of the costume overlaid on top of her blazer.
“Hindi talaga kumakapit”, she quips while fixing the Darna brassiere. Nevertheless, she pulled off the superheroine’s iconic transformation and sounded convincing as she delivered the Darna yell. Though, Julia doesn’t want to be full of assumptions but if offered to do the role, she would definitely say yes.
Julia also talks about her relationship with boyfriend Joshua Garcia whom she describes as a jealous type. “Lahat pinagseselosan”, Julia reveals. But, she knows there are times when insecurities must never be tolerated anymore.
The actress describes her beau as very traditional or old school when it comes to his point of view on relationships and romance; while Julia is quite on the modern side. She admits having fear of getting married and she looks forward more to being a mother than a wife. Though, she knows things have to be done in the right process. When she’s talking about such things, Joshua would intently listen to her and understand where’s she’s coming from.
But, just like any other couples, they have their fair share of lovers’ quarrel as well. Though, Julia says they have learned to be wiser in choosing their battles. “Hindi pala lahat sinasayangan ng energy,” Julia shares.
When asked about the biggest fight she had with Joshua, Julia says it has to be last year’s controversy where Joshua was dragged into an issue of flirting with a random girl online. “Never tolerate kasi baka things will never be the same again”, Julia relates when asked about the greatest lesson she’s learned after the issue. More so, they figured out the importance of still keeping personal space while maintaining a romantic relationship. Fortunately, their love for one another triumphed.
