Kapamilya actress Yam Concepcion was recently hailed as the Primetime Drama TV Actress of the Year Award at the Guillermo Box Office Entertainment Awards. The recognition, along with the praises and hate she gets from the viewers of Halik, are all validation of her sterling performance in the teleserye. Tito Boy asks her to react about her showbiz title as the newest “Pambansang Kontrabida”. While Yam quite expected to receive such branding, she is also amused that others call her “Pambansang Kabit” instead due to the role she portrays.
But, personally, Yam does not prefer using the word “kabit” or branding someone as such. She believes that calling a person that way equates to making judgments or jumping into conclusions without knowing the entire back story. Yet, she defines “kabit” as someone who intrudes into a relationship whether married or not.
Aside from her acting prowess, Yam is also equipped with musicality; particularly in singing and playing the ukelele. Yam’s fondness for the said instrument started out when her boyfriend of four years, Miguel, gave her a ukulele as his first gift to the actress.
Yam shows off her ukulele skills when she graced the set of Tonight with Boy Abunda and plays the song “Sinungaling” by Mayonnaise. Others do not know that Yam was discovered in showbiz through her appearance in the said song’s music video.
WATCH: Yam Concepcion’s not so hidden talent
“Feeling singer”, Yam remarks as she makes fun of herself before picking the strings of her ukelele. But the shyness easily fades away as she takes a gulp of beer before showing off her talent.
