Relating to each other’s experiences in showbiz, Jodi Sta Maria and Bela Padilla shared empowering thoughts about dreams and timelines in this episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda aired in 2019.
Jodi and Bela guested on the show to promote their primetime series “Sino ang May Sala: Mea Culpa” where they played rivals. In real life, though, the actresses are good friends.
The show opened with veteran host Boy Abunda and live audiences greeting Bela for her birthday (May 3). To celebrate, TWBA gave her a cake, which Jodi happily sliced for the three of them. Jodi’s was the smallest piece because she’s on a diet. But when asked about her guilty pleasure, Jodi revealed she likes chips and she’d even bring large packs on the set.
Bela, on the other hand, couldn’t resist anything sweet. “Kailangan kainin ko talaga,” she said, then requested for a bigger slice of cake.
Then-28-year-old Bela opened up about her insecurities as an artist. She felt like she’s running out of time. She accepted two movie projects while working on a major teleserye as she wanted to make the most of her prime, thinking that soon she won’t be able to explore more characters due to age limitations, “Naghahabol ako.”
After listening to Bela’s story, Jodi granted her a piece of advice about time and success. “The things that are meant for you will always be for you. Regardless of what age, it will come,” she said, putting a smile on the birthday girl’s face.
Bela currently resides in London but clarified that she’s not quitting showbiz. Jodi currently stars in “The Broken Marriage Vow” with Zanjoe Marudo, Sue Ramirez, and Zaijian Jaranilla.
