In an episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda aired in 2018, Jairus Aquino and Kira Balinger talked about playing exciting roles in “Spirits Reawaken,” the reboot of the iconic Kapamilya series “Spirits” (2004).
Tito Boy asked his guests to relate the show’s tagline “Astig Maging Iba” to their personalities. Kira said she’s unique because of her confidence to show her wacky side, whereas other girls her age would want to look flawless all the time.
“If you look at me, iisipin mo prim and proper. I can be that way pero ‘pag talagang kasama mo ako, at saka sa mga pictures, makikita lagi akong naka [wacky pose]. It’s not usually something that other girls would do kasi sIyempre kailangan laging maganda and everything,” she flaunted her wackiest facial expression.
Jairus, on the other hand, describes his personality as carefree, “Sometimes sobrang harot ko. Siguro malakas akong mang-asar.” But he’s also not afraid to enjoy his alone time even if that creates an impression of being a snob, “Minsan seryoso ako, parang nagmumukhang suplado, nagmumukhang mayabang. Pero I’m not afraid kasi sometimes I need ‘yung time.”
In the series, Jairus played Jesse, originally played by Joseph Bitangcol. He’s the rebel guy in the ‘barkada’ and has the power to command electricity. Kira reprised the role portrayed by Michelle Madrigal, Maya, who has the psychic abilities of precognition. Also in the cast were Grae Fernandez, who became Kira’s love team partner in Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin in 2020; Chantal Videla, Bugoy Cariño, and Patrick Quiroz.
Jairus and Kira also played siblings in the afternoon series Pamilya Ko in 2019.
