Marco Gumabao guested on Tonight with Boy Abunda on Thursday, August 15 and talked about his upcoming film “Just a Stranger” and his experience in doing the film with his lead co-star, It’s Showtime mainstay and multi-awarded, versatile actress Anne Curtis.
In “Just A Stranger,” Anne portrays Mae, a married woman who will have a secret affair with a man half her age. Marco plays the role of Jerciho, the young man with whom Mae found the love and attention she fails to get from her husband. The story of the film will revolve on their forbidden romance, with Mae and Marco both juggling their secret affair and their present relationships --- Mae to her husband and Marco to his girlfriend.
Despite the film’s erotic romantic-drama theme, Marco tells us that he actually auditioned and prayed hard to get his role in the said project. He also shared that before even getting the role as Jericho, he was very happy to get some words of encouragement from Anne and most especially from her husband Erwan Heussaff. Letting us know the support Erwan gave them for the movie, Marco shared:
“I remember, we were at the after party na ng ABS-CBN Ball and I saw Anne and Erwan together. Anne was saying, “‘O, if you get this, kailangan mong galingan”... Erwan also read the script already. So, he [Erwan] was also giving me tips na parang: “Oh yeah, it’s really a good script. So, if ever you do it, good luck!”
Regarding his experience in filming the intimate scenes of the movie, Marco reveals that he and Anne did not rehearse before those were shot. He described it as a “nerve-wracking” moment with Anne who did not give limitations in doing the scenes. Nevertheless, considering that Anne is a married woman in real life, Marco tells us that he made sure to be a real gentleman towards his on-screen partner.
When asked by Boy Abunda if it is possible that actors get personally affected by the scenes they do on screen, Marco answered:
“Definitely… That’s why it’s the actor’s responsibility to make sure that you’re just doing this as your character.”
Given that Marco had a butt exposure for the film, he also talked about his thoughts on doing a frontal nudity in the future. Being asked that question several times, he said:
“As of now, hindi pa muna… Because I don’t wanna give everything in one go. If I do that, baka wala nang abangan ‘yong tao sa’kin, ‘di ba? But, first of all, if it’s a beautiful script, if this movie alam kong talagang tatatak sa mga tao, why not?”
Wrapping up the interview with a bang, Marco shares some of the most amusing facts about Kapamilya leading men Zanjoe Marudo, Daniel Padilla and his Los Bastardos co-actors Joshua Colet, Albie Casiño and Jake Cuenca, who in his recent TWBA guesting said that Marco is always updated on their co-celebrities’ recent life events.
