If there’s one person on earth who knows all your girly secrets, it would be none other than your sister. ‘Sissums’ Toni Gonzaga and Alex Gonzaga can relate to this feeling. In this throwback video from Tonight with Boy Abunda, the beloved sisters reveal each other’s celebrity crushes and the crazy things they did for teenage infatuation.
An old photo of Patrick Garcia was flashed on the LED screen and secrets were spilled. “Tinatawagan namin ‘yung landline niya,” said Alex, adding that it was Toni’s idea.
The elder Gonzaga explained that it was a trend during the ‘90s to call celebrities’ landline number, “’Yung mga ‘90s kids makaka-relate. Noong nauso ‘yung Ang TV, ‘di ba kumalat, ‘Ito ang phone number ni Patrick Garcia, ni Gio Alvarez.’ Nakarating sa school n’yo ‘yun?” When she caught up with the gossip, Toni told Alex, “Uy, ito daw ‘yung number ni Patrick Garcia! Catherine, tawagan natin!”
Alex further revealed, “Sila muna ‘yung tatawag tapos siguro napagbagsakan na sila tapos ako na lang. ‘Hello? Si Patrick Garcia?’ ‘Ay, may taping pa.’”
The next photo was that of Devon Sawa of the ‘90s “Casper.” While they weren’t able to phone him up, because Hollywood was on the far side of the world, Devon made Toni’s teen life more exciting. Alex mimicked Toni’s youthful talks, “Ang arte ni Ate noon! ‘Devon Sawa is the best! He’s so hot!’ Nagpapa-cute ka nun!”
Alex also had a crush on Devon because of Toni’s influence, “Pagdating ko sa school, may bago akong crush si Devon Sawa. Di ba ginagaya mo ‘yung Ate mo?”
The next photo was that of Piolo Pascual. Despite being linked with the actor, Toni said she never had a crush on him.
There was an instance when Piolo knocked on their dressing room and Toni assumed he was looking for her. She tried to avoid him, not wanting to talk to anyone at that moment. But it turned out that Piolo was looking for Alex because he wanted to introduce Mikee Morada, now her husband.
Alex didn’t stop there. She revealed that Toni was crushing on Piolo while filming “Starting Over Again” with him.
