The King of Talk Boy Abunda opened up on his sentiments about his mother’s passing on TWBA. According to Tito Boy, his Nanay Lesing was confined in the hospital for more than two months. He vividly remembers watching his 90-year-old mom fight for her life in the Intensive Care Unit while the doctors resuscitate her. Since then, he found himself constantly dreading to receive unexpected phone calls, scared that he might hear a bad news from the other line.
Until on the first day of December 2019, while praying in the hospital’s chapel, Tito Boy’s phone surprisingly rang. He said he wanted to die at that moment because he knew something was wrong. He implored the heavens for just one more day with his Nanay or until they make it home for Christmas.
In the span of two months, Tito Boy’s gratitude journal was full of memories of his mother’s health condition. And on the day when Nanay Lesing passed away, he still managed to write down the words “Thank You” despite being unsure of what exactly he was thankful for. “Ang naaalala ko lang, my mother died in my arms. My mother died in my embrace I saw Nanay crossing over into a different space and that will forever stay in my heart,” Tito Boy expressed.
Yet, the King of Talk still saw a sense of hope amidst the pain. He believes that Nanay Lesing’s demise somehow paved the way for a closer relationship between him and his other family members especially with his siblings and niece, Lani.
Although, Tito Boy knows that it will take more time before he gets used to the pain. He advised the viewers to “love your parents and take care of your families because they are all you’ve got”.
Tito Boy’s guest for that episode, Bela Padilla, urged him to let go of his emotions. “If you are nothing else, you are Nanay’s son and she would be happy to see you happy again”, she told the veteran host. Bela also added how she would always remember Nanay Lesing’s beautiful smile.
As the show comes to an end, Tito Boy thanked those who showered him and his family with support, friends and ABS-CBN management included, “I will continue to make you proud”, the King of Talk promised his beloved Nanay Lesing.
