Pinoy talent once again took the spotlight on the international stage as Marcelito Pomoy made it to the America’s Got Talent: The Champions final round. As expected, he nailed a ‘doble-kara’ performance of Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson’s “Beauty and the Beast,” giving him a standing ovation.
Judge Simon Cowell said that Marcelito is a talented guy, however, his words hinted at his disappointment over our bet’s song choice. The remark prompted a loud cry from netizens asking ‘justice’ for Marcelito.
To air his sentiments, Marcelito granted a quick interview with Boy Abunda via phone patch. Marcelito clarified that he didn’t have the final say about his song choice. It was the musicians and program coordinators who picked the classic hit based on Simon’s comments. Further, they ran out of time to make last minute changes. Marcelito himself thought that “Beauty and the Beast” lacks a climax part and isn’t a good choice for a contest. Nevertheless, he decided to just give his best and deliver a clean performance. Marcelito considers the Indian dance crew V. Unbeatable as his toughest competitor in the show.
On other news, Nadine Lustre and Julia Montes will team-up for the upcoming Kapamilya series titled Burado. Apart from the two lovely actresses, Zanjoe Marudo, Paulo Avelino, and Thai actor Denkhun Ngamnet also comprise the teleserye’s stellar cast.
