Sports enthusiasts know Cherry Ann Rondina as the UST Golden Tigresses volleyball team captain who poured all her heart in bringing her school into glory in the recent UAAP Season 81. Although, the championship trophy has slipped away from the UST once again, others say Cherry Ann’s golden MVP win and the first finals game in eight years were more than enough.
Sisi has always been on a roll for the school she considers her second home. She never fails to amaze the audience with her incredible moves especially her dazzling spikes. But, the 5”6’ tall phenomenal jumper says she isn’t aware of how high she leaps until she watches the game’s footage. This skill was strengthened by core exercises, which she started doing since her first year in college.
The champ was even able to set a new milestone for the UST Golden Tigresses via her career-high 35 points which she, herself, couldn’t believe so. “Kahit ako, hindi ko alam kung paano [ko nagawa]. Napapa-wow na lang din ako,” she says.
Despite the accolade, Sisi remains true to living up to one of her father’s greatest teachings which is to keep herself grounded at all times. Audiences would often notice a certain move Sisi makes right after making a point where she quickly faces her teammates rather than the cameras. This, according to her, is a signal of humility.
To make her first TWBA interview more fun, Boy Abunda suggests testing the better jumper between them in a classic larong Pinoy called ‘Pabitin’.
