Kapamilya actor John Prats can make married life and fatherhood look easy, albeit it isn’t in real life. It takes a lot of patience and teamwork and genuine commitment that really comes from the heart. But it’s the only kind of hard work he will never get tired of.
In this throwback video from TWBA, Boy Abunda opened the conversation about John and wife Isabel Oli’s third anniversary and how they keep the fire in the relationship. Although it takes a lot of effort, John said it becomes easier because they are both romantic. They always make time for each other and they love surprises and random date nights, sometimes with the kids.
“It’s very natural. Liv [Isabel] kasi is very malambing at ako rin ganun. We surprise each other. Minsan, pag-uwi ko, ‘Can we just go out?’ ‘Why?’ ‘Can I date you kasi parang nakaka-miss din na tayong dalawa lang. Let’s leave Feather.’ Tapos after five minutes, ‘Let’s bring Feather.’ Hindi kami makalayo but I make sure na mayroon kaming time for each other,” shared John.
The FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano star also loves to profess his admiration for his wife. He lets the public know how caring, kind, and a hands-on of a mom Isabel is, which makes him fall for her even more.
“Malaking factor din kasi na nakita ko kung gaano siya kabuting Ina, kung gaano siya ka-hands-on na ina. Naa-appreciate ko siya for that kasi hindi madali,” he added.
Asked if he’s a better husband or a better father, John said he is doing his best to be both. He went on to talk about the newfound bliss in fatherhood. “Natural sa akin to just go home and bond with them. ‘Yun ‘yung joy ko ngayon. With Feather, I don’t want to miss a moment kasi ang bilis niya lumaki.”
John seizes his kids’ fleeting baby days and he wouldn’t mind carrying them in his arms as long as he could. “Si Feather, meron siyang ginagawa na 3am sleep walk, so I have to carry her and papatulugin ko siya for five minutes. Si Liv is like, ‘Turuan mo na ‘yan dapat natutulog na siya mag-isa.’ Ayaw ko kasi ang pangit naman kung 10 years old na to binubuhat ko pa. May time na mina-maximize ko.”
John and Isabel now have three kids – Feather, Freedom, and Forest.
