Janella Salvador was a guest on Tonight With Boy Abunda and she talked about a fan whom she inspired reaching his dreams, her rumored relationship with Markus Paterson, the issue involving best friend Julia Barretto, and her experience working with Joshua Garcia in The Killer Bride.
Janella continues to be an inspiration of strength and hope to her fans but one in particular caught her attention. Her avid follower, Joshua Nolasco, posted his appreciation post for Janella for inspiring him throughout his college years and board exams. He is now a licensed electrical engineer. She expressed how proud she is of her fan Joshua for achieving his dreams. “It feels good na you get to be one of the inspirations for people to be able to achieve their dreams,” she said that she feels honored and humbled to have fans look up to her for inspiration in their own lives.
Janella has been paired with numerous leading men in the industry ranging from Elmo Magalona to Marlo Mortel. For her tandem with Joshua Garcia on The Killer Bride, Janella played Emma who is a mysterious newcomer in the fictional town of Las Espadas after Camila, played by Maja Salvador, dies. Emma will be possessed by Camila’s spirit to avenge her death.
Janella shared that Joshua’s acting can be seen through his eyes and it makes it easier for her to just react to what he is feeling during the scene. “It’s such a pleasure working with him. Hindi ako nahihirapan kasi nga as soon as we’re on the set, tingin lang kami sa isa’t isa okay na kami,” she said. Janella said that they don’t have to internalize their characters that much since they could already feel the emotions of their characters by just looking at each other.
On the controversy hounding best friend Julia Barretto, Gerald Anderson and Bea Alonzo, meshed with her pairing with Julia’s ex, Joshua, Janella said she is hands off from the issue. “As much as possible I’d like to exclude myself from the issue kasi I feel like it’s just gonna add fuel to the fire,” she explained that she didn’t want her name to be dragged in the issue since she has nothing to do with it. Although she admitted that she reached out to Julia and told her that she’s always there for her no matter what.
Janella herself has had her fair share of controversies in the past but she denied that she offered some advice to Julia on how to deal with the issue. “It’s more on we both help each other,” she shared that they simply make one another feel that they’re not alone amid their problems and controversies in the industry.
Janella also revealed that her interpretation of the song “Nung Tayo Pa” by Rex Torremoro and Elmar Jan Bolaño is her fourth time she has participated in the competition. “If the song’s really worth it, I’ll do it again,” she admitted that she hesitated at first to accept the offer having been in the competition many times. But she immediately changed her mind and accepted the offer when she heard how good the song was. Janella then sung a few lines of the heartbreaking song, which enamored Tito Boy and the studio audience.
Meanwhile, Janella opted not to either confirm or deny her rumored relationship with Markus Paterson to avoid further issues or fuel any more rumors. “Based on my last relationship, it doesn’t do me any good na parang you’re in a relationship with someone pero feeling mo you’re in a relationship with the whole world,” she noted. Boy Abunda respected and honored her wish not to dwell on the topic. “There are things we can keep to ourselves, panindigan lang natin,” the King of Talk said. Janella added that she wants to protect whatever is going on in her love life for now.
And to end the show, Janella played TWBA’s The Last Five. She revealed that she last stalked a food account on Instagram. The last thing she regretted buying was the burger she ate before the interview. She also shared that she now regularly talks to her mom Jenine Desidero after their rough patch on 2018. She evaded the question on the last time she was with Markus Paterson by answering a vague: “Recently.” She jokingly said that her cat was the last one she said “I love you” to.
