Belonging to a clan of actors, it is hardly surprising that Alyssa Muhlach has been endowed with showbiz genes. After trying her luck in the pageant world last year, Alyssa decided to take her first step in the showbiz industry. Alyssa joined Miss World Philippines in October 2018 and crowned Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas 2018.
Aside from her talent in acting and her elegant poise displayed in several beauty pageants, Alyssa is also blessed with good singing skills. She gives a sample of her golden voice by singing Sharon Cuneta’s “Ikaw”, the song dedicated to her mother, actress Almira Muhlach.
Alyssa admits there are disadvantages that come with being a child of showbiz. She says her last name comes with a certain expectation. “Lagi akong pressured to live up to people’s expectations na ‘pag “Muhlach” ka kailangan lagi kang ganito kagaling, automatically,” Alyssa relates. Yet, the beauty queen-actress twists these negativities into positive ones, saying the public presumptions can also be a source of challenge to always do better.
Looking on the bright side, being a Muhlach allows her to gain lessons about the nitty gritty of the industry. “Since they’ve been in the industry for years, they share with me so much wisdom about showbiz and how you should deal with people,” adds Alyssa. To always be humble and treat everyone with respect and kindness are among the most important pieces of advice she got from her actor relatives.
Alyssa knows she still has so much to learn about the industry and she’s not afraid to ask questions, especially from her uncle, Aga Muhlach, whom she idolizes for his sterling acting skills. Aga and wife, Charlene Gonzales, has always been supportive of Alyssa’s endeavors.
For her first big showbiz project, Alyssa brings scare along with Jodi Sta. Maria and the other cast of hit horror film, “Clarita,” still showing nationwide. She is also currently doing a television series with JM de Guzman and Kiko Estrada.
