Two pillars of the Philippine music industry, Regine Velasquez and Sharon Cuneta, will share the stage in an epic musical event entitled “Iconic”. But, what exactly makes the two timeless singers iconic? For Sharon, the life journey of the Asia’s Songbird is akin to a Cinderella story – how a simple girl from the province was patiently trained and nurtured by her loving father until she has become one of OPM’s finest gems. “Regine is Regine for a reason. Everything she went through, it’s the totality of a performer and all these little details that no one else has,” Sharon adds.
Regine, on the other hand, mentions gracious character and longevity as the facet of Sharon’s colorful persona that makes her truly an icon. “She is my inspiration. Nadadapa siya pero bumabangon siya”, says Regine who is a true-blue Sharonian. Regine has always seen Sharon as an artist who is committed to her supporters. “These people commute, go through rain, sweat in lines and all they want is a picture. It takes a little to make them so happy,” Sharon talks about her fans.
Aside from having the same kind of passion for music, both Regine and Sharon are box-office queens for movies as well. In a game with Boy Abunda, the Songbird and the Megastar reveal interesting facts about some of the most bankable leading men in the country they have worked with.
Christopher de Leon is the first one on the list. Regine recalls Christopher’s sweet gesture of sharing his food with her on the set, plus, the actor’s scent as well. Sharon admits that Boyet was her ultimate crush.
On Aga Muhlach, Regine shares in jest, “Kine-claim niya na niligawan niya ako pero parang hindi ko naman naramdaman.” The Songbird is in awe of her great on-screen chemistry with Aga despite not having romantic feelings with each other in real life. “His dimples and the way he carries himself,” Sharon talks about the sexiest thing about Aga.
On Richard Gomez, Regine reveals that showbiz’s “Goma” is fond of eating street food while Sharon notes Richard’s “mala-Adonis” features – tall, dark, and handsome – as the most endearing things about him. Sharon also adds that the Ormoc City Mayor is a smart man and he is a perfect match to wife, Congresswoman Lucy Torres.
On Robin Padilla, Sharon says in jest, “Nakakaloka ‘yan!” The Megastar asks if Regine, “Naloka ka ba dyan?” Regine discloses that Robin was into another girl when they did a movie together; hence, the on-screen romance did not extend behind the scenes. Sharon reveals that Robin’s wife, Mariel Rodriguez, has been the instrument of resolving the conflict between them.
“Kung may isasama kayo sa langit, sino ito?” Tito Boy asks the two icons. Regine mentions Aga’s name while Sharon goes for her husband, Kiko Pangilinan.
