For the past fifteen years, actress Ryza Cenon’s life has been under the limelight. But, as she celebrates her showbiz anniversary, Ryza says nothing much has changed with her simple lifestyle. “Never akong nagmadali sa career ko. Wala akong insecurity sa katawan ko. Kung may mas umangat man kaysa sa akin, ‘Okay, congrats!,’”, Ryza shares as she looks back on her career trail.
Through her hard work, Ryza has managed to make a mark in showbiz as a kontrabida. Yet, the humble girl claims she never did once dream of becoming an antagonist or a protagonist; all she desired was to become an actress.
Yet, along her journey, Ryza has learned to fully embrace and enjoy the kontrabida stigma she received from the public’s eye. “Mas nalalaro mo ‘yung character, hindi katulad ng bida na plain lang ang character at kailangan mo lang ay maawa ang tao sa’yo”, Ryza shares as she talks about the fun of being the bad girl on television.
Among all her other kontrabida roles, the one she currently plays in The General’s Daughter is quite different as she has totally made an effort to own her character. Ryza does her best to prove herself worthy of the spot she garnered among the series’ stellar cast. The actress studies her character well to be at par her co-actor’s acting prowess. “Nakakatakot po, eh kasi ‘yung mga kasama ko dito mga beterana”.
Ryza takes on the role of Jessie, an adopted daughter whose desire to be loved will cause insecurities. The General’s Daughter airs weeknights on Primetime Bida.
