Collegiate superstar Ricci Rivero looked back on the lessons he learned from facing a series of major controversies including drug-related rumors. According to the UP Diliman cager, he felt bad seeing his family getting affected by the issues thrown at him. But they were still the same people, alongside a small circle of friends, who helped him move on from the devastating phase.
His team, the UP Fighting Maroons, failed to bag the championship title in this year’s UAAP. Ricci admitted that he was disappointed at first but looking at the bright side, he said their team’s brotherhood grew stronger. When asked if he would still be wearing the same uniform next season, Ricci revealed that he is still weighing his options.
One thing is for sure, though, the hardcourt heartthrob will be part of “Dayories”, an iWant sports documentary series that will trace the roots of featured collegiate players. Ricci takes this as an opportunity to openly express himself and to inspire other struggling kids.
Ricci also answered bold questions submitted by the netizens. The allegations about his excessive absences in class, disrespecting professors, and rowdiness are among the first ones to get clarified. He denied all these assumptions, saying he may have just inevitably skipped several classes due to game schedules, trainings or team gathering. On being rowdy, Ricci apologized to those who misinterpreted or were displeased with his actions.
The athlete confirmed that he is single right now yet he looks forward to exploring his love life in 2020 as part of his New Year’s Resolution. He also announced that he is starting a movie project by January. He is open to working with any leading lady or even playing as a love triangle to Maymay Entrata and Edward Barber’s love team, if given the opportunity. Ricci thanked the fans shipping him with Kapamilya star Sharlene San Pedro even if they haven’t met each other yet.
Talking about his equally popular teammate Kobe Paras, Ricci said he considers him as a brother. The two UP hardcourt pillars have been neighbors in high school and their friendship continued to grow since then. Ricci picked Kobe as the more handsome guy and better player between them.
