If great minds think alike, it’s no wonder Piolo Pascual and director Joyce Bernal make up a blockbuster tandem. They always hit mega success whether as actor-director or film producers. Their current masterpiece, “My Amanda,” produced by Piolo’s Spring Films with Joyce as creative producer, is getting rave reviews from ‘hugot’-loving audiences.
In this throwback TWBA episode, Piolo and Joyce share their dynamics on and off cam. The Ultimate Hunk revealed working with each other is no breeze, “Lagi kaming nag-aaway.” He said the director rarely scolds other artists, hence projecting her frustrations at him.
As producers, they fight over budget as well. But in their previous masterpiece, “Kita Kita” starring Alessandra De Rossi and Empoy Marquez, they were quite on the same page. “We just wanted to make it good. Gusto lang namin talagang magpakita ng magandang pelikula,” he added.
The King of Talk Boy Abunda asked what differs rom-com from other types of love stories. Joyce explained, “In romantic-comedy the characters should be bubbly.” However, she would prefer to brand “Kita Kita” as real romance, “Mas real siya. ‘Yung characters mas kilala mo, mas common na tao.”
Piolo and Joyce worked as actor-director in blockbuster movies including “Paano Kita Iibigin,” “Till There Was You,” “Don’t Give Up On Us” and “Last Night.”
