Morissette Amon looked glowing in an appearance for Tonight with Boy Abunda originally aired in February 2018. In the segment called “MOREacts with Morissette,” the singer watched and reacted to her old videos, starting off with a clip from her live performance of “Stone Cold” on ASAP Natin ‘To.
Just like all of her other covers, Morissette’s take on the Demi Lovato hit was flawless. She would always slay each performance not only with her top-notch vocal range but also with raw emotions that make the storytelling more dramatic. When asked how she manages to make every painful song sound truly heart-breaking, Morissette said she takes ‘hugot’ from her sad experiences. She compared singing to acting, saying she sometimes imagine and put herself on someone else’s shoe to deliver the required emotions.
In that particular number, Morissette no longer took an elaborate accompaniment. “I think it’s just a very strong song. It doesn’t need more instruments, just the voice and a little percussion tapos naka-upo lang.”
The next one to roll was her audition video for The Voice of the Philippines wherein she sang Beyonce’s “Love on Top.” Morissette seemed to have watched that clip over and over again, as she knew exactly at what minute Sarah Geronimo pressed the button. From the previous video’s ‘hugot,’ this one’s full of ‘gigil’ and Morissette told us why.“Sabi ko, ‘Mag-turn na kayo, gigil na ako!’ Parang patapos na ‘yung song, two minutes lang tapos mag-one minute na lang. Four days kaming auditions tapos nasa fourth day na ako, so sabi ko slim na lang ‘yung chances,” she looked back. Thanks to Sarah, the local music scene witnessed the birth of a multitalented artist now dubbed as Asia’s Phoenix.
On the next video wherein Morissette encountered a slight vocal problem on stage, she explained that it was taken during a Christmas show in Milan, Italy. It was a freezing weather. Morissette wasn’t prepared and she unfortunately lost her voice. “At least alam n’yong hindi ako nagli-lip synch,” she jestingly told her audience, then continued the show. Still looking back on that incident, Morissette learned to always be equipped.
Veteran host Boy Abunda shared his opinion on Morissette’s experience, telling her that such blunders happen even to the best talents.
