In his TWBA interview aired last year of January, Martin Nievera recalled his publicized breakup with ex-wife Pops Fernandez. “Everything we did was in front of the cameras. We became friends, fell in love, had children and separated all on cameras,” shares Martin. Martin and Pops’ supporters also had a difficult time getting over with the breakup. The good thing is the ex-couple’s relationship was built on a strong foundation of friendship and this keeps them still bonded until this moment.
Indeed, Martin carries no bad blood with Pops and his second ex-wife Katrina Ojeda. Proving so is a photo shared online showing the three of them celebrating Christmas with their kids and even Pops and Katrina are in good terms. “They need to be friends because they are both mothers to brothers. It’s a God-given gift,” says Martin after joking that he felt awkward seeing his exes talking with each other.
The Concert King and Queen serenaded their fans and music lovers in a show titled “Together Again” on Valentine's day last year. Martin was then asked to deliver his favorite Pops Fernandez song. He went for “Never Say Goodbye” not just because he wrote it but he’s also in love with its melody.
To end the show, Martin took on a game where he revealed his stand on various subjects. He believed that money is needed but not important, while ego shall never be a part of anyone’s job description. “Why not?” his short response when asked about marriage. “Be careful when you’re past 60,” he quipped about the topic on sex. Martin said he hates birthdays but nevertheless, Boy Abunda surprised him with a cake to celebrate his upcoming birthday.
