After setting the bar high for Filipino talent in 2011, Pilipinas Got Talent Season 2 Grand Champion Marcelito Pomoy wows the international crowd this time. The sensational singer displayed his trademark ‘doble-kara’ musical style while singing his rendition of Andrea Bocelli and Celine Dion’s “The Prayer” on the second season of America’s Got Talent: The Champion. The astounding ability to ‘duet with himself’ and the overall powerful performance led to a standing ovation among the judges and the audiences.

On his live TWBA guesting on January 20, Marcelito revealed that he was immediately offered to join the regular edition of America’s Got Talent after his appearance on The Ellen Show in 2018. But he rejected the first invite, not wanting to risk his reputation as the PGT grand winner. Marcelito thought that it might be too embarrassing if he would end up losing in the competition.
So, when tapped to join the roster of fellow champions in the AGT spin-off, Marcelito grabbed the chance. His wife, Joan helped to ease his reluctance.
Marcelito was honest to admit that he thought of quitting his stagnant singing career in 2015. The good thing is Joan was there to boost his courage all the time. Had he bid singing goodbye, Marcelito would’ve just opened a hardware business since he was a former construction worker before joining PGT.
The talented singer admitted that he was feeling nervous during his first AGT performance, joking that speaking in English added more to his anxiety. Marcelito will be back on the AGT stage by the end of January for the semi-finals. He is still clueless on the production’s song choice for him. For the meantime, he belted out Regine Velasquez and Ogie Alcasid’s “Hanggang Ngayon” for his Filipino fans.
Marcelito took on the Fast Talk challenge where he chose love over money. He wishes to become an ASAP Natin ‘To mainstay. If given the chance, he would like to bring Joan on a date in Paris this coming Valentine’s Day. “Hanggang Ngayon” is his favorite karaoke piece, while he finds “The Phantom of the Opera” as the most challenging song for him.
