Fresh from her win as Miss International in 2016, Kylie Verzosa looked back on her journey in this throwback episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda.
Kylie was over the moon as she talked about the most unforgettable things about her pageant experience, “Being with the girls, the whole experience of joining an international pageant, knowing really what it’s like. Everything, from waking up early to doing everything yourself to meeting the other contestants from different countries.”
It’s pretty much normal for pageant enthusiasts here in the Philippines to choose their bets even before the coronation night. Kylie said same thing happens in an international pageant scene. Some candidates stood out early on in the competition. “There were. There was Poland. She was beautiful. She became my friend. It was Philippines, and then it was Poland. We talked a lot. She speaks English very well, carries herself very well. She’s one of the most beautiful girls I know as well,“ shared Kylie, who thought the final two girls on stage would be Miss Poland and Miss Mexico.
Kylie believed so, because contenders would tend to secretly judge ach other’s performances as well, “They were in Top 15 and then in your head, you think of the people who weren’t called yet. Siyempre, kina-calculate mo na ‘yan sa ulo mo kung sino pang nandiyan.”
She was the last one to be called in the Top 15. Then, during the announcement of winners, Kylie thought a first runner-up finish would be as good. But she emerged as the most beautiful and the best among all the contestants.
