Kim Molina was unable to contain her happiness as soon as Boy Abunda welcomed her on the Tonight With Boy Abunda studio. She faced the camera and greeted her mom ecstatically, shouting, “Ma, artista na ako!” According to Kim, her mother would often tell her that only a TWBA guesting would validate her job as an actress as though juggling two huge Kapamilya series isn’t enough.
Kim portrayed the role of Savannah, the sidekick kontrabida in the hit afternoon teleserye Kadenang Ginto and played as Billet, the charming best friend in the primetime series The General’s Daughter.
Portraying two opposing characters effectively is a big proof of Kim’s sterling acting abilities. So, when dared to deliver dialogue as Savannah and Billet alternately depending on Tito Boy’s cue, Kim passed the test and stunned the audiences with her believability. She said playing with the eye expression helps a lot in adding depth to the character being portrayed.
Kim shared an incident in where a woman called her Savannah and lashed out at her for her wickedness in Kadenang Ginto. “Pinagmumura ako”, she recalled. Still, she displayed her usual cheerful side as a response to the hater. Kim wouldn’t complain as she fervently prayed for the things she has now.
At first, though, she wanted to become a singer than an actress. While she and her parents, both dentists, were still based in Saudi Arabia, Kim joined ABS-CBN Global’s TFC Popstar in 2006. The producers of the event, who also happened to be the people behind WCOPA, were totally impressed of Kim’s talent. Hence, she was tapped to represent the Filipino community for WCOPA in Saudia Arabia. Her winning piece was Frank Sinatra’s classic hit “New York, New York”. She, then, went home to the Philippines and stepped into the world of theater.
