For four consecutive weeks, Kim Nemenzo battled it out against equally talented aspirants Tawag ng Tanghalan’s ‘Resbak’ edition. The daily performances challenged Kim’s physical and emotional strength until she was almost drained of vocal prowess in the last stretch of the competition. Kim often woke up with a hoarse voice in the morning and fell short in the rehearsals. Yet, she’s still managed to slay her performances on stage, a series of miracles that Kim perceives as truly a work of God’s intervention. Having survived the exhausting month-long test of vocal endurance, Kim was baptized as “The Non-stop Diva”.
Jonas Oñate, on the other hand, had a different kind of struggle – financial dilemma. Jonas had to accumulate funds from friends and neighbors to support his fare and other needs in the competition.
Both Kim and Jones have had experiences joining amateur singing contests in their hometown and working in comedy bars as well. Kim believes that her stint in the comedy bar stripped off her insecurities as a performer, giving her enough confidence to conquer the TNT stage.
Kim and Jonas’ long and winding journeys have brought them into the ‘Huling Tapatan’ where Elaine Duran emerged as the ultimate champion. If given the chance to pick their own winner based on the performances in the final round, Kim would opt for John Mark Saga while Jonas said that John Michael dela Cerna would be his choice.
Kim and Jonas also performed their favorite piece in Tawag ng Tanghalan – Lauren Daigle’s “You Say” for Kim and Percy Sledge’s “When a Man Loves a Woman” for Jonas.
In the Fast Talk segment, Kim showed appreciation for Morisette Amon and mentioned Aga Muhlach as her childhood crush. Jonas revealed that he used to work in a beauty parlor. He named Piolo Pascual as the sexiest man in the Philippines.
