As a former child star, Kathryn Bernardo is used to having her Mommy Min around to take care of her needs during tapings and other occasions. But things are different now that she’s already an adult.
Kathryn now moves independently at times such as during travels. She also has put up her own business ventures, although Mommy Min helps her handle her businesses and finances.
In a past episode of TWBA, Kathryn was asked by veteran host Boy Abunda about this sense of independence. She clarified that she was only allowed to travel without Mommy Min once, and she and Daniel were accompanied by friends.
It was a fun experience and it taught them responsibility. “Iba ‘yung feeling din kasi ikaw ‘yung responsible sa maleta mo ‘pag dumating. Ang memorable nun kahit short lang kasi it was in Chang Mai, my dream destination, with DJ pa.”
She continued, “Ang liberating ng feeling na hindi mo kilala ‘yung mga tao. Bina-budget namin ‘yung pera kasi kulang dala namin. Ang saya.”
Asked her allowance setup with Mommy Min, Kathryn revealed that she rarely brings cash on work or when going out. “Card lang po ako parati. Pero ‘pag shooting or taping, bibigyan ako ni Mama 500 or 1,000 pangkain. Tapos minsan, siyempre kulang ‘yun. Manlilibre pa ako tapos sasabihin ko, ‘Guys, sorry hindi kaya ng budget.’”
She then shared a funny anecdote about Daniel running out of cash to pay for parking ticket. Kathryn laughed over her revelations but we find it adorable how the Queen of Hearts can be this simple and real.
