Avid viewers of FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano were surprised to see theatre actor Jerald Napoles joins in the series since he was used to be identified with the rival network. But unbeknownst to everyone, Jerald has long been friends with the lead actor and director Coco Martin way before he officially entered showbiz. They also worked together in the rom-com film “You’re My Boss” in 2015.
Jerald was tapped to be part of the teleserye’s first season but a prior commitment got in the way. So, when the existing conflict was finally ironed out, Jerald didn’t hesitate to grab Coco’s offer. He feels overwhelmed working once again with the King of Primetime.
When asked about his dream leading day, Jerald is quick to drop Bea Alonzo’s name as he’s always been in awe of her depth as an actress. To test his leading man qualities, Jerald takes Boy Abunda’s dare to deliver a remarkable line of Piolo Pascual in “Starting Over Again” and Coco in “You’re My Boss”.
Jerald’s relationship with long-time girlfriend Kim Molina remains strong despite the controversies thrown at them. The two met while working on the musical “Rak of Aegis” and Jerald was instantly captivated by Kim’s singing prowess. They were best friends first before he started courting her.
The actor denies the issue that he is simply riding on Kim’s stardom while saying that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Besides, he agrees that Kim is the more popular artist between them and adds that Kim dreams of making it big in the industry since she was a child.
On the topic about Kim’s jealousy over sexy actress Ivana Alawi, Jerald doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it. He knows they are honest with each other and besides, Kim is also aware of the strong male attention currently fixed on Ivana.
Jerald believes that he found ‘the one’ in Kim because she always makes him a better person. Growing up in different cultures – Kim was raised in Saudi Arabia while Jerald in Tondo – is a big help in creating balance in their opposing personalities.
On the TWBA Fast Talk, Jerald picks fortune over fame; girlfriend Kim Molina over Kim Chiu. He reveals that Kim is the clingy and messy one between them. He names the late Comedy King Dolphy as the funniest man in the Philippines. Jerald hails himself as the most handsome man in the country.
