It has been a tradition for pageant enthusiasts to baptize Miss Universe – Philippines titleholders’ trademark walk with a catchy name. Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, for instance, was known for her “Lava Walk.”
This year’s queen and Philippine representative to the Miss Universe pageant, Gazini Ganados, is known for her vibrant yet graceful walk which fanatics brand as “Bomba Walk,” “Ganado Walk”, or “Phoenix Walk” taken from the mythological bird that rises from the ashes. Among these choices, Gazini opts for the “Ganado Walk”.
Gazini demonstrates the basics of her own “Ganado Walk” to Boy Abunda. She mentions the popular duck walk as its foundation. The typical duck walk requires an exaggerated lounging, kicking, and swaying of the hips, take these movements gracefully and slowly and the result would turn out as Gazini’s “Ganado walk”.
Aside from the physical attributes and queenly movements, another crucial factor that determines a Miss Universe potential is a candidate’s ability to impress the audiences with her wit via Question and Answer portion.
While there are supporters who do not have even a pinch of doubt over Gazini’s capabilities, there are also detractors who say Gazini failed to give an excellent answer in the Binibining Pilipinas 2019 Q and A round.
“I appreciate the criticism and I know there are still so much to learn and improve within myself. The first step is accepting it,” Gazini’s reaction to her bashers’ claims. Although, Gazini finds it offensive when the critics go over the belt, adding that she desires for everyone’s unity as her battle in Miss Universe is not for her personal gains but for the Philippine’s pride rather.
