Being part of a prominent clan made Ernie Lopez, President of ABS-CBN Lifestyle Ecosystem and Creative Programs, Inc, quite uncomfortable at first. But, he later on learned how to read and value other people and realized that being a Lopez can allow him to be of true service to others.
“I always tell my children that money and popularity cannot be the goals of your life. These are only the tools so, you can help other people,” said Ernie who is a loving Dad to three teenagers. “I would not say that I am a perfect father but I adore my children,” he added. The new “G Diaries” host loves spending time with his kids and obstacle course racing is one of their favorite weekend activities.
A lot knows that Ernie had a close relationship with sibling Gina Lopez who succumbed to cancer last August. He would never forget how Gina would raid the fridge in search of chocolates when they were kids. They loved taking trips together as well and Ernie described Gina as a person of integrity.
It was also Gina who introduced him to girlfriend, Michelle Arville, who made him relieve the sappy feelings of being a teenager in love. In fact, Gina was quicker to recognize that Michelle is right for Ernie. “I want you for my brother,” Gina told Michelle on their first meeting.
Ernie is determined to continue Gina’s legacy in the Sunday travel show “G Diaries” which has recently been hailed as Best Travel Show in the recent PMPC Star Awards for TV.
In the Fast Talk segment, Ernie said there was never a time when he thought of leaving ABS-CBN. If driving the “Share the Love” bus with Boy Abunda, Ernie would like to bring the King of Talk in Samar. “Tough women,” Ernie’s response when asked about the thing that scares him. He hopes that his kids would grow up as God-fearing as him. Ernie named his girlfriend, Michelle, as the sexiest woman in the Philippines.
