Veteran entertainers Dennis Padilla and Andrew E. guested on Tonight With Boy Abunda on Wednesday, August 28 and talked about their careers and addressed controversial issues.
They recalled their first ever film together “Humanap Ka Ng Panget” back in the 90’s. Andrew shared that it took some time to get used to his newly found fame since everything happened so quickly. Relatively known to some, he also auditioned for That’s Entertainment and performed a rap song for Kuya Germs who at the time didn’t know anything about rap yet.
When his song “Humanap Ka Ng Panget” became a hit, it was accompanied by a dance craze that people loved to imitate in the 90’s. Fast forward to almost two decades after, Dennis and Andrew are now reuniting for their latest film “Sanggano, Sanggago’t Sanggwapo” with Janno Gibbs.
“Sanggano, Sanggago’t Sanggwapo” is the last movie that award-winning actor, Eddie Garcia, has filmed before he passed away a few months ago.
Dennis revealed that he depends on Janno whenever he’s going through a rough patch in his life. He jokingly shared that they’re close with Andrew since they ask for rapper-comedian’s help when they have financial problems.
Dennis, meanwhile, addressed the controversy involving his daughter, Julia Barretto. “Bakit hindi ka muna magbakasyon?” Dennis shared what he advised his daughter, urging her to stay silent amid the controversy involving her, Gerald Anderson and Bea Alonzo.
“Kapag bina-bash si Julia… nagagalit ako eh,” he added that there are times that he wanted to physically hurt Julia’s bashers as a protective father to his daughter. “Hindi ako sumasakay… anak ko ‘yun eh,” some people misinterpreted Dennis’ motives when he defended Julia from her bashers as a strategic move to boost his career. But he emphasized that he’s just a father who would do anything to protect all his children.
Asked what he wanted to say to Julia’s ex, Joshua Garcia, Dennis said, “Nakilala kita and pormal kang humarap sa’kin kaya ginagalang kita.” He shared that he values the mutual respect that they have for each other. Dennis also revealed that he’s been texting Gerald Anderson, but Gerald hasn’t replied to any of the messages he has sent. “Sagutin mo naman ‘yung text ko,” he appealed to Gerald to reply to at least one of his messages so they could talk about the problem. Although Dennis admitted that he initially talked to Gerald when the issue first spread a few weeks ago after he texted him to discuss the matter. “Pinapaalala ko lang na anak ko si Julia Baretto,” he said, reiterating to Gerald that he cares about Julia and that he’s affected by the rumors going around his daughter involving Gerald and Bea.
Dennis and Andrew played “The Last Five” to end the show. Andrew revealed that he last took off his pants publicly in Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles after some people challenged him to a dance battle. “Tinawag akong cheater of the month,” Andrew told the story of how his teacher couldn’t believe his ways of cheating on an exam when he was in high school. But Dennis denied that he ever cheated on any of his partners and claimed that he’s always been loyal. “Ngayon,” Dennis jokingly said that the last time he lied was during the interview with Tito Boy itself.
