It’s been almost five years since Cherry Pie Picache lost her mother to a gruesome murder. The incident brought deep agony to the actress but she still had the courage to completely forgive the assailant.
In her TWBA guesting, Cherry Pie recalled the first time she met the suspect after the killing happened. “When I was about to see him, I was really praying na sana magawa ko [magpatawad]”. Cherry Pie even brought food for the man who took away her mother’s life, and she was in awe of the peace she felt within.
“Hindi ko akalain na magagawa kong bigyan pa ng tinapay ‘yung taong pumatay sa nanay ko. Buong puso ko siyang pinapatawad”, the actress relates. For her, the journey to healing started with God’s intervention. “God really took over. It’s really by His grace that I was able to do it,” she adds.
Three years ago, Cherry Pie started sharing her journey to forgiveness through giving talks in several gatherings or events. Now, she’s about to take this beautiful story to a wider audience via documentary called “Radical Love” produced by the ABS-CBN News and Current Affairs which will be aired on July 7.
Cherry Pie says the road to complete and total healing still continues and she makes an effort to meet with the assailant every now and then to achieve a two-way restoration. “Mas mahirap sa kanila kasi ngayon na nasa katinuan na sila and restored to their basic goodness and sanity, kahit sila mismo gusto nilang kalimutan na may nagawa silang ganun”, Cherry Pie says.
