Tonight with Boy Abunda welcomed actress Andi Eigenmann, the star of the internationally-acclaimed film “Maid in London” and more recently known as the “island girl” after her big move from the busy city of Manila to the more paradise-like setting of Siargao. However, the actress returned to the showbiz realm in 2018 to promote her horror film, “All Souls Night”. On her episode with the one and only King of Talk, Andi shared about her new life in paradise; her life as a mom and her relationship with Philmar Alipayo.
The actress made headlines upon the news on her big move to the province and her decision to settle against the beautiful sands of Siargao. Andi was reported to have sold all her luxurious belongings in exchange for a simple, provincial life—starting anew in the small town where she said to have felt is a place where she belongs.
When asked about her reactions on the rumors going about on how she ultimately quit showbiz, Andi told how she started at a very young age and ever since then, her life has been in front of the cameras—even the personal details where subject to the public’s scrutiny. The actress went on to say that what people didn’t know as they were getting to know her on-screen, is that she was also getting to know herself. And her big move to Baler at that time was a decision she made for herself in an attempt to know herself more by herself in a much more lay-low and toxic-free environment. However, when asked she’s truly set on leaving the industry, the beautiful actress admits that’s it’s hard to turn your back on something, knowing your heart is in it—implying that will always return to the world of entertainment.
In addition to the rumors on her quitting, some people also saw her decision to move as selfish; saying that she put herself above her own daughter’s needs. The actress countered the statement and said that she has never forgotten about her daughter, Eli, and would often take her with her to the island—even admitting that it’s the kind of environment she wants her to grow up in. Andi also shares that her daughter has a good relationship with her father, Jake Ejercito, and shares her time with him. When asked on her relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Andi admitted that they’re not friends but can be civil with each other when it comes to the subject of Eli. She also emphasized that it’s not her personal interests that she’s after but her daughter’s when she decided to let her stay in Manila to study and be able to spend time with her dad as well.
Near the end of the show, Andi was challenged to do "5 in 45" where she named five things she won’t miss in showbiz. The actress then named: tsismis (gossip), haters, late pack-ups, and early morning call-time. For her last one, Tito Boy asked her on the things she missed and Andi said that she missed acting and making friends. When asked if she misses the money, Andi admitted that it’s great to earn much but pointed out that she’s also lucky, after having left the industry, to be able to give herself a simple and comfortable life.
