Back in 2016, he took a photo outside of the iconic Pinoy Big Brother house. He posted this on Instagram along with the caption, “My BIG DREAM. Sana balang araw maging housemate din ako.” In 2018, his dream finally became a reality. Unfortunately, it was cut short as he became the fourth evictee. But Aljon Mendoza is staying hopeful in achieving his goal of taking on a career in acting.
Being an actor has been something he has aspired forever since he was a kid. Growing up, he was naturally shy, but that did not stop him from pushing through. His secret to overcoming his bout of shyness was simply believing in himself, “Hindi po ako nag-doubt sa sarili ko po, Tito Boy. Parang naniwala po ako na kahit mahiyain po ako kayang kaya ko pong malampasan lahat po ng mga challenges.” It also helped that in 2016, his English teacher saw potential in him and suggested he join the TV Broadcasting section of their Journalist Club.
So, when he stumbled upon the chance to audition for PBB, he grabbed it and never let go. He knows that this could pave his path to become an actor, but at the same time, he wanted to become the Big Winner for his parents. “Gusto ko po talagang i-alay po ‘yung pagsali ko po ng PBB para po sa magulang ko po. Gusto ko pong maging proud sila sa akin,” he explained.
In the end, despite falling short of the Big Winner title, he will bring many memories with him. His friendship with Karina Bautista is one of them. Although, he would like to clarify that they really are just friends. “Gusto ko pong sabihin, mas nangingibabaw po sa akin ‘yung pagkakaibigan po naming dalawa,” he stated. He knows that Karina is in a relationship with someone outside of Kuya’s house which is why he understands that there must be a limit to their closeness.
