It’s always fun and hilarious when Alex Gonzaga visits the TWBA studio! In this episode, the ‘kwela’ girl looks back on her throwback photos and decides which memories are worth keeping and worth deleting.
The first item was Alex’s childhood photo. She was sporting short hair and an awkward smile which her ‘ate’ Toni Gonzaga bullied her for. She placed it on the “Never Forget” box yet explained, “Pero siguro kalimutan na ‘yan kasi ito ‘yung time na binu-bully ako ng ate ko. Tapos nare-realize ko nakakaasar nga talaga ‘yung mukha ko. Tingnan mo naman ‘yung ngipin ko! Ano ba naman ‘yung ngiting ganun,” she said.
Alex added that the she had an ‘ugly duckling’ phase during childhood but the good thing is it wasn’t documented that much. “Sabi niya kasi nakakaasar ‘yung mukha ko. Siyempre, noong bata ako hindi ko naman alam ‘yun. Tapos, ‘oo nga nakakasar nga!’ Mabuti na lang wala kaming pera, wala kaming video cam,” she continued.
Alex joked that she’d rather look unattractive as a child than as an adult when Boy Abunda mentioned that every ‘ugly duckling’ surely blossoms into a beautiful swan, so we should beware of being judgmental.
“Tito Boy, lagi kong sinasabi, mas okay ang pangit noong bata kesa ngayon pangit,” Alex quipped.
On the next photo, she said she would keep the memories of their first family trip to the United States. The image shows teenage Alex and Toni posing with their dad. Alex revealed their father badmouthed boys when they were young, so they’d be scared to jump into relationships.
“Siniraan niya talaga ang mga lalaki sa amin. Parang muhing-muhi kami sa mga lalaki.”
It may appear too strict to some but that’s one of the best parenting styles she’d like to copy from her own mom and dad. “Brainwashed ang ginawa niya, ngayon lang namin na-realize pero gagawin ko din ‘yun kapag nagkaanak ako,” said Alex.
