Before her 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival entry hit theaters this Christmas Day, the girl in the orange dress dropped by Tonight with Boy Abunda to take fans behind the lens!
The interview started off cheerfully enough. The King of Talk could not help but compliment Jessy Mendiola on how glowing she is with happiness. They talked about how she was recently reunited with her older sister, Pamela Martinez, after not seeing each other for five years. It was a fun trip that was even made more special by Luis Manzano tagging along. Jessy could not feel more gladness for the fact that her boyfriend and precious Ate Pampuy got along well.
More importantly, however, her sister saw her enjoying life. “Sobrang masaya siya for me kasi huli naming pagkikita, five years ago, ‘yun ‘yung depressed ako,” Jessy shared. But now that she is at a better with someone who makes her feel loved, she is glad that Pamela got to witness her happiness.
Moving on to her feel-good movie, “The Girl in the Orange Dress,” they revealed that Boy Abunda does make a cameo. In fact, his name is on the movie poster. They also shared that his cameo scene only needed one take. “Tuloy-tuloy,” Jessy boasted. He praised her and leading man Jericho Rosales for their great acting. There is more about their MMFF entry, but you will just have to catch it in the cinemas to find out what happens.
Sitting down with Jessy, Tito Boy also brought up her post about “male friends” holding her waist without her permission. To clarify, she does accept the ups and downs of being a celebrity. An example of this is people using her photo as a wallpaper. “Marami akong mga nakikita na ako ‘yung wallpaper, I’m sure hindi lang naman ako ‘yung artista na ginagawang wallpaper. So, it’s really okay. It happens. Wala akong violent reaction.” But she still has limitations.
One of them is when strangers hold her waist for pictures. She welcomes people who ask for a photo, but the pose is another thing. Jessy talked about how some fans want to look close with her which is still okay with her. But there are some boundaries that people have to respect. “Ako kasi ‘pag hindi ako komportable sa isang bagay, sinasabi ko. And sometimes they misunderstand. Para sa akin, noong time na ‘yun, sinabi ko sa kanya,” she admitted. Knowing that other women and celebrities go through this as well, she decided to post her sentiments on Instagram. If you need help to further understanding, she demonstrated some poses in this video. Better yet, learn to respect another person’s body.
If you are wondering which part of the conversation they shared all this, then you have to check out this uncut version because not everything is released on air!
