Queen of Hearts Kathryn Bernardo delighted rabid fans with her rousing appearance on Tonight With Boy Abunda on Friday, July 26.
Promoting her movie with Alden Richards, “Hello, Love, Goodbye,” Kathryn stopped by TWBA to talk about her piercings, her experience while shooting the movie, her dream leading men and her picks for Daniel Padilla’s possible leading ladies.
Kathryn admitted that she eventually loosened up and stopped caring about what other people would think and so, she started posting personal pictures on her Instagram feed.
She shared a fun experience having her ears pierced with close friends Juan Miguel Severo and Ria Atayde, who have since helped her make important decisions in life. Kathryn said that she wanted to hop on a car and be dropped off at the piercing shop, but Ria and Juan Miguel forced her to walk instead.
Kathryn admitted to Boy Abunda that she and Alden became closer while filming their movie. She said that she allowed Alden to know more about her and denied that their on and off screen chemistry was forced.
Tito Boy then asked Kathryn to choose from a set of female artists she thinks would be the best leading lady for Daniel Padilla in the future. The first actress mentioned was Janella Salvador, whom Kathryn said was too young for Daniel. She then agreed that Kim Chiu can be partnered with Daniel if their project is a romantic comedy. Unsurprisingly, Kathryn agreed that Maymay Entrata would complement Daniel well in any film or teleserye in the future. Kathryn hesitated to say yes to Pia Wurtzbach because of the possible awkwardness due to their height difference but she eventually agreed that Pia and Daniel would make a cute couple on-screen. Julia Barretto, on the other hand, was deemed too young by Kathryn to be Daniel’s leading lady. While she agreed that Maine Mendoza would be a great fit for Daniel once a good project comes along. She didn’t want Nadine Lustre to be Daniel’s leading lady to avoid problems between the KathNiel and JaDine fandoms.
The King Of Talk also asked Kathryn to choose her possible leading men in the future. He first mentioned Joshua Garcia and she said that he’s good friends with Daniel but hesitated since Joshua is currently being paired with Janella Salvador. She didn’t want to be partnered with Enrique Gil because fans might have missed seeing Enrique and Liza Soberano together and so, Kathryn said she didn’t want to get in the way of a LizQuen comeback. Of course, who could say no to the ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual? Apparently, Kathryn would love to work with Piolo in the future. And, again, to avoid a possible KathNiel-JaDine fandom clash, Kathryn said she would not want to be partnered with James Reid anytime in the future.
Kathryn admitted that “Hello, Love, Goodbye” is the most difficult film she has ever done in her career so far. She said it wasn’t just emotionally demanding but it was also physically draining. Kathryn added that she had the hardest time internalizing her role because her character doesn’t speak much and so, she had to convey the words she couldn’t say through her eyes.
She revealed that director Cathy Garcia Molina separated her from the cast to help her further internalize her role. Kathryn admitted that she got angry at Direk Cathy while filming due to her strict rules on set. She wasn’t allowed to use her cellphone to contact Daniel and was shouted at whenever she was caught using it while filming. She shared that Direk Cathy allowed her to get angry, scream or shout cuss words at her but the only rule she had to follow was that she could never walk out or suddenly disappear while filming.
Kathryn also admitted that she desperately wanted to come home during the first week of filming due to exhaustion and frustration on set. But after the shoot, she finally understood why Direk Cathy had to treat her that way and make her feel like she was her character during their entire stay in Hong Kong instead of being Kathryn.
“Grabe ‘yung respeto lalo sa mga OFW at ang dami kong realizations kung gaano ako kaswerte sa buhay ko ngayon,” she shared that the movie helped her see things in a different light. She added, “After making this movie, para akong mas nabuo lalo.”
“Hello, Love, Goodbye” starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards will hit theaters nationwide starting on July 31.
