Before, every time we come across this word, the first thing that come to mind is having a perfect 36-24-36 body. However, as time goes by, we gradually learn to embrace whatever was given to us and love our own bodies, regardless of the judgments and snarky remarks from other people. Besides, we also realized that more than achieving the ideal figure, what’s more important and what makes us more “sexy” is possessing the right attitude, admirable personality, health, and intelligence that could create an impact to other people.
Just like seasoned actress Iza Calzado, whose dramatic weight-loss journey and self-love continue to inspire others.

We all know that before attaining the fit bod she has now, she used to have troubles with her weight, which made her a subject of bullying. She suffered from obesity in her younger years and admitted trying to fix it through extreme starvation, and taking weight-loss pills. The pressure of showbusiness also took a toll on her as she was forced to undergo liposuction twice just to remove the excess pounds and to score the role she was supposed to do during that time.
She eventually realized that there are really no shortcuts in attaining a fit body. Thus, she started doing regular workouts, such as swimming, yoga, crossfit, 360 fitness, and Zumba, and having a well-balanced diet as well.
Although the 37-year-old actress already feels great about her present shape, there are still people who are seem not pleased with what they see on her Instagram posts, particularly the ones in which she is wearing swimsuits.
In one of her bikini photos, amidst the positive comments, a few of her followers spoiled the essence of her gratifying post and body shamed her, pointing out how saggy her skin is.
Instead of being rude, she replied by saying how much she understands where they’re coming from and imparted the improvements in her body throughout her fitness journey and how much she yearns to have a beautiful complexion.
She also stated that there’s nothing much she can do about it, so she just learned to accept and celebrate whatever she’s been blessed with, “including a healthy body, no matter the size or shape or skin texture”.
She ended her message by apologizing to the basher by saying, “I am also sorry that you were attacked for your comments. I know you did not mean to hurt me. Love and Light to you.”
Aside from being a revered versatile actress, Iza is also a co-founder of She Talks Asia, a media empowerment platform that spearheads and organizes events that aims to celebrate and uphold the discourse on women’s rights in the Philippines and around Asia. She also currently runs the #thebodyloverevolution campaign on social media that persuades everyone to be happy with themselves and embrace the bodies given to them. \
