Showbiz enthusiasts and spectators who got to watch Matet de Leon as a child star would remember her for a few things including her famous line “Takot ako, eh!” and her broad forehead. Up until now, Matet admits still getting teased for it but she has learned to just laugh things off unlike before when she would get affected by the comments.
Matet has grown from a cute child star to showbiz industry’s Pambansang Best Friend due to the roles she often portrays in the series and movies she joins in. While others would feel bad and insecure of getting typecast with supporting roles, especially that of a sidekick, Matet says she is fulfilled and satisfied with the projects coming her way. She believes that the audiences are even amused with her trademark best friend character in the small and big screen.
In real life, the Nang Ngumiti Ang Langit star describes a true friend as a great listener and shows concern even through scolding and giving constructive criticisms. She considers her husband, Mickey Estrada, and siblings as her real-life best friends; and she keeps an honest and open communication with them even if it results to quarrel at times.
For instance, she and sister Lotlot de Leon had a slight misunderstanding as the latter tried to fix Matet’s forehead dilemma by insisting that she gets a bangs. Matet jests that she did not comprehend Lotlot’s reason for urging her to get a bangs as Matet believes that she doesn’t have a broad forehead in the first place. But later on, Lotlot won and she had bangs as instructed by her sister.
