The Asia’s Nightingale Lani Misalucha is grateful and blessed for all the success that life has given her. She admits that her achievements are more than what she imagined. Yet, the biggest thing she treasures the most, aside from her singing career, is becoming a grandmother.
Lani expresses the extraordinary kind of joy she feels when spending time with her grandchildren. She adds that this feeling gives her a different sense of fulfillment. She has always loved looking after her grandkids that she even learned to impersonate different cartoon characters for their delight.
Lani is celebrating her 50th birthday this year, and given her age, Lani begins to think of her retirement. She accepts the reality that she will eventually step on the last road of her career. At the moment, she is in semi-retirement stage where she no longer performs every day unlike her younger years. Yet, she still continues to keep in touch with her fans and stay in the industry as long as she can. As a proof, she is about to release a new album under Star Music.
Now that her golden year is approaching, Lani picks the song “Follow Your Road” to describe her life at the moment. The Nightingale looks at her career as a long journey where she continues to meet blessings and struggles along the way.
At her age, Lani also admits that her voice is no longer as reliable as before. She compares her vocals to a decade old car; no matter how much you take care of the vehicle, problems are still bound to arise. Now, she still continues doing vocal exercises to cope up with the changes in her voice. Little ways, like avoiding cold water, also helps in maintaining her singing prowess.
In an interview on Tonight with Boy Abunda, Lani proves that she is still the Nightingale everyone admired. She sings a few lines from two of her most requested pieces. Lani perfectly executes the whistle note in “Loving You” and belts out “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” with power and emotions that only the Asia’s Nightingale can give.
