Recently evicted Pinoy Big Brother Otso regular housemate Abi Kassem has a simple life in Isabela with her single mom and sibling. Her mother leaves the house at 6 AM to look for a living; forcing Abi to manage the household.
Abi is a Filipino-Lebanese who grew up without full knowledge of her roots. Until she auditioned for Star Hunt, Abi started asking her mom for more stories about her younger days. She finds out that her father had a first family and a wife whom he was married to. While still in the womb, her Dad has already rejected her; believing that Abi is not his own child. This forced her mom to come home to the Philippines while pregnant.
Abi was born in the Philippines under the sole care of her mother. When Abi was eight months old, her Mom wrote a letter to her Dad explaining that Abi is his own. Her father requested for a DNA test and the result has proven her mother’s claims. Unfortunately, Abi’s father died when she was just 9 years old.
At the moment, Abi gladly shares that she has a smooth relationship with her half-siblings. Her own mother and step-mom are in good terms as well. The Kolehiyala Cutie of Isabela is family-oriented. In fact, her family is her top reason for joining the Star Hunt. She wants to give them a comfortable life and a good future; more than what she has experienced.
Despite her good intentions, Abi has been evicted of the house sooner than she expected. Audiences note that the voting results were influenced by the controversies that she faced inside Bahay ni Kuya. She has even been lambasted by netizens for her behavior.
In one episode of the Pinoy Big Brother Otso, Abi confessed her feelings for housemate Andre Brouillette. She has even admitted getting jealous with their other companion inside the house, Lou Yanong. The incident caused her to receive terrible criticisms and bashing from the audiences because she has a boyfriend outside. Yet, Abi cleared things up the next day. She has decided to do the right thing which is to remain faithful to the man he is committed with.
Now that she is out the Big Brother house, Abi clarifies that she and her boyfriend are not in conflict. Abi is grateful that despite the mistakes she has made, her boyfriend remains understanding and openly accepted her apology. Abi knows that things will take time but she and her boyfriend are determined to still make their relationship work.
