She has been busy making her name known around Asia. But now she’s back in the Philippines and will be having a concert entitled Supreme on June 22. It will be a night of celebration for her vocal prowess. Aside from her own music, however, KZ Tandingan has other suggestions that we could try.
Some of the biggest hits during her childhood were Spaghetti by the Sexbomb Girls, Asereje by Las Ketchup, and comedian Bayani Agbayani’s Otso Otso. “’Pag sa school, ‘pag may mga dance contest, iyang lahat naka-medley,” she reminisced.
Whenever KZ’s stuck in a traffic jam, the artist she always turns to is Gloc 9. From Hoy and Sirena to their collab Industriya, any of his songs can lighten up the mood. “Kasi nakaka-good vibes pakinggan si sir,” she explained.
Lately, she has also fallen victim to the Bhoom Bhoom dance craze by Korean girl group Momoland. Although she can’t sing the Korean lyrics, she is familiar enough in other languages. The Chinese song that will probably be forever in her head is the memorable medley she performed during Singer 2018, which is called The Pain Which You Don’t Know. Speaking of the singing competition, it was here that KZ finally met her idol Jessie J, and her favorite song of the English artists is Who You Are.
But if there’s one song that she wishes was her original, it’s Ebe Dancel’s ‘Wag Ka Nang Umiyak. She was all praises for the artists and talked about how easily listeners can get hooked by his simple style, “iba ‘yong song writing ni Kuya Ebe”.
As for the background music of her love life, the song KZ would dedicate to her TJ Monterde is Ikaw at Ako which they wrote and together. And for her wedding day? She is still in the middle of writing it, but she did share with us the chorus.
KZ Tandingan made a playlist on this TWBA Online Exclusive which is essentially the soundtrack of her life. Check out the video to hear the stories behind each song and more!
