Looking back on his humble beginnings, Ion Perez shared that he was just a simple son who would help his mother sell snacks like lugaw and kakanin in Concepcion, Tarlac. Their products often sell like hotcakes, thanks to his charming good looks.
There was a phase, though when Ion was bullied for his physical appearance. Ion said he did not pay much attention to his looks during his puberty stage. Ion further shared an embarrassing incident during his first year in high school.
He took that remark as a motivation to improve himself. In one basketball match in their town, Ion caught the two bullies gushing over him and even asking for his name. Ion’s cousin told them that he was the boy they once snubbed, prompting the mean girls to leave, embarrassed and guilty.
Ion is a product of male pageants. He met a talent scout who saw his potential and convinced him to join Mr. Universe Tourism where he was hailed as the titleholder.
Since then, opportunities did not stop knocking on Ion’s door until he became part of the top-rating noontime show It’s Showtime where was baptized as “Kuya Escort.”
