When news about Maine Mendoza and Arjo Atayde’s relationship broke the internet, the latter’s mom, Sylvia Sanchez came in rescue to face the harsh comments and even death threats thrown towards him. But recently, rumor had it that Arjo and Sylvia had a one hundred thousand peso worth of bet regarding Maine.
In her guesting in Tonight with Boy Abunda, Sylvia clarifies that the playful bet was about Arjo’s two movies – “Bagman” and “Stranded.” “Bagman” is a socio-political action series streamed on iWant, which tells the story of Benjo, played by Arjo, a simple barber who enters into the shady world of illegal activities and transactions to make a living for his growing family. “Stranded,” on the other hand, is a romantic-comedy film which Arjo topbills alongside Kapamilya actress Jessy Mendiola; and is showing on April 10.
According to Sylvia, Arjo claims that the mainstream film “Stranded” will give him good credentials as an actor more than the online series “Bagman.” But Sylvia believed otherwise and thought that he will turn out to be more impressive in the action genre; and this is what the bet was all about. Sylvia says she will never let an innocent girl like Maine get involved in a game because she is a woman herself.
Just like Arjo, Sylvia is also busy promoting her film, “Jesusa” which tells the story of a loving mother and wife who goes through a storm in life and resorted to drug addiction. The film is an entry to the Sinag Maynila Film Festival starting in April 6.
