Fans have spent every Monday to Friday with him as Ginno on the Primetime series Since I Found You. Although the romantic comedy is nearing its finale, don’t say you’ll miss him just yet. You can still catch him every Sunday on the comedy show Banana Sundae. He is also gearing up to be a soldier and love interest of Angel Locsin in the upcoming Kapamilya series “The General’s Daughter”.
The exhaustion must be seeping in for the busy actor, but JC de Vera has one reason that’s enough to keep him working even harder—Lana Athena.
In an Instagram post with his daughter and girlfriend Rikka Alyssa Cruz, he wrote: “My strength. My happiness. My inspiration. My motivation. My Love. My Life.” He kept his relationship private all this time, but ever since confirming the birth of Lana back in May, these photos alone are clear proof that he’s ready to share his journey of being proud father. He even recounted on Tonight with Boy Abunda the moment he first held her in his arms.
He talked about never having held a newborn baby in his arms before. Yet when they were in the operating room, it all became natural for JC. “As in nakarga ko siya ng walang practice-practice,” he said while smiling from ear to ear. It was at that moment when he made a promise to his beautiful baby girl, “Poprotektahan ko ‘tong batang ‘to, kahit anong mangyari.”
There’s no easy way to master parenting which is why JC prides himself on learning how to change diapers and even swaddling. His prize for these achievements? Seeing Lana’s smile first thing in the morning. Even people who follow him on Instagram know that he posts about her almost every morning.
“Magiging matured ka talaga, instant ‘yon,” was one thing he realized these past two months. As for his career, “work, work, work,” was all he could say because now he has a family to provide for. It’s a huge responsibility, but you can tell from the smile that never left his face, that JC is more than happy to take on this challenge.
