Well-known personality and car enthusiast Ian King – now known as Angie Mead King – broke the internet when she came out in public as a transgender woman in 2016. One factor that made the news more controversial is that fact that she is married to model Joey Mead, a straight woman.

Nevertheless, Angie and Joey proved everyone that love knows no gender and they would always choose each other at the end of the day. Three years after coming out, Angie says their relationship has become stronger and more genuine.
As they continue showing how the eyes of love look beyond the surface, Angie and Joey garnered the public’s respect and praises. “When people see that Joey still stayed with me and we worked it out, parang nag-normalize ‘yung relationship,” Angie shares.
The media picked up their inspiring story of love, which resulted to massive social support. In return, the bashing and hate slowly faded away. The couple is now freed from their apprehensions and they can now openly express themselves.
But, how did Angie spill the tea with Joey? “Three months into dating, I started with baby steps like telling her, ‘I like women’s clothes’. It wasn’t an issue in the beginning and she was very supportive. As we were progressing in the relationship, I felt like I want more of it [the cross-dressing].”
What Joey thought was just a cross-dressing game suddenly turned serious and she quite backed off. “It was rough for us”, Angie admits. Nevertheless, they managed to fix the relationship through counseling. “Ang natutunan namin sa counseling is kung gusto namin ni Joey paganahin ‘yung relationship, then, we had to work on it. I told Joey that transition is not overnight,” Angie recalls.

Angie often reminds her wife to focus on the now. “If you don’t like what you see now, then, break na tayo,” she once told Joey. Yet, the couple has made the decision to always choose one another at the end of each day and move along happiness.
