REVIEW: ‘Till I Met You’ assures that love will always win

In a world full of pain and heartaches, we sometimes forget to see the love surrounding us everyday.

“Till I Met You” began with Iris (Nadine Lustre) narrating the different signs of falling in love and finding the “one” according to some famous personalities. She then shared the unfortunate love stories that her mother Cassandra (Carmina Villaroel) went through. Despite the several heartbreaks, Cassandra learned to love again when she finally met Oliver (Richard Yap) and felt that special beat in her heart. However, it didn’t take long and she was left alone again.

Even without a father, Iris grew up full of love from her family and the family of her childhood bestfriend Ali (JC Santos). Since he was her knight in shining armor all her life, she eventually fell in love with her bestfriend and she realized it when she felt that heartbeat during their graduation ball dance. For several years, Iris and Ali had a special relationship as bestfriends. After college, they flew to Greece to undergo an on-the-job training in one of the hotels there. In Greece, they finally met Ali’s online friend Basti (James Reid).

Unconventional story

Unlike most teleseryes that are about two people falling in love with each other or two people fighting over one person, “Till I Met You” offers a new and unconventional story about three people in an unusual love triangle. This primetime series shows the love story between two childhood bestfriends, two new friends and two strangers all happening at the same time.

Impressive direction and cinematography

Being headed by two blockbuster directors Antoinette Jadaone and Andoy Ranay, the primetime series truly has the feel of a romantic comedy film. All the scenes, especially the comedic ones, were very well executed.

The series shot several scenes in Greece and the picturesque views and sights were truly highlighted, thanks to award-winning cinematographers Dan Villegas and Mycko David.

Three-way chemistry

In “Till I Met You”, James Reid, Nadine Lustre and JC Santos have a unique three-way chemistry.

Even though this is their first project together, Nadine and JC have natural chemistry on screen and are truly believable as childhood bestfriends. Surprisingly, James and JC also offer a unique kind of kilig, something that televiewers should really look forward to.

Of course, real-life couple James and Nadine have undeniable and effortless chemistry even in their simple scenes together. The two have proved that they really matured as actors after “On The Wings Of Love”.

Remarkable performances

Aside from the three leads, the series also showcases the acting skills of its supporting cast. Carmina Villaroel portrays Cassandra remarkably, especially in her dramatic scenes. Pokwang and Angel Aquino are also outstanding as Agnes and Val respectively.

Kim Molina also shines as Kelly, the extremely funny college friend of Iris. In one of his scenes, Robert Seña brings out the warm and loving heart of a strict and cold military man Gregor.

In this world full of almosts and maybes, “Till I Met You” assures that at the end of the day, love will always win.
