In the past seven years and seven seasons of The Voice Philippines, it’s undeniable that a lot of contestants, especially the younger ones, yearned to have the opportunity to work with the Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo, at least, as her protégé.

This dream came true for several artists who were able to get recruited in her team, with some even making it to the finals and four of them being the grand champion of a certain season – Lyca Gairanod (Kids Season 1), Jason Dy (Season 2), Jona Soquite (Teens Season 1), and Vanjoss Bayaban (Kids Season 4) – making her the winningest coach.

And now that all the coaches have finally completed their packs and are getting ready for the highly-anticipated Battle Rounds of The Voice Teens Season 2, let’s take a look back the notable blind auditions of Team Sarah’s top 16 artists!

 

Jay Garche        

Apparently smitten with his heartfelt and precise performance of Michael Pangilinan’s “Kung Sakali”, the “Tala” hitmaker immediately hit the red button for him and followed by Coach Lea Salonga. While he believed that he can learn from both of them, but the 16-year-old balladeer from Bacolod City still chose his idol Sarah.

 

Kate Campo      

She may be small, but this 13-year-old aspirant from Angono, Rizal is actually a terrible belter as her rendition of Jericho Rosales’ “Pusong Ligaw” impressed not only one, but three coaches. Coach Lea and Coach Apl tried to persuade her to be part of their teams, but Kate, who used to be on Kamp Kawayan during her stint in Kids Season 2, opted for her first choice since then – Team Sarah.

 

Johnray Castiller             

As he put a different flavour on the classic OPM hit “Kahit Maputi Na Ang Buhok Ko”, Coach Sarah and Coach Lea did a last minute turn for this 14-year-old varsity baller from Bacolod City. But in the end, she decided to go for the Popstar Royalty, who expressed how much she enjoyed his performance and vowed to help him improve in the next stages of the competition.

 

Andre Eusebio 

Swooning us with his soulful and spot-on version of The Carpenters’ “Superstar,” this 17-year-old church musician from Cavite was able to make Lea, Sarah and Apl turn for him. However, Andre assumed that it’s Coach Sarah who could help him highlight whatever is special in his voice, up his game in singing, and in further sharing the goodness of God.

 

Eunice Encarnada          

This 16-year-old lass from Misamis Occidental indeed impressed both Coach Apl and Coach Sarah with her take on the Nina Simone hit “Feeling Good.” Although both of them could guide her in her journey throughout the competition, she thought that the latter could do it better for her.

 

Ryan Dave Baguio          

His name might have caused confusion among the coaches, but this 14-year-old shy guy from Bukidnon absolutely didn’t mess up his rendition of Lionel Richie’s “Hello” as both of the female coaches pushed the red button for him. But Dave saw that the most suitable or “sakto” coach for him is the Popstar Royalty.

 

Kendra Aguirre 

At age 13, this young singer-songwriter and special effects make-up artist from Las Piñas had already managed to burn the stage and make Sarah and Bamboo turn with her fiery performance of Tina Turner’s “Proud Mary.” Yet it is to the former’s team wherein she foresees herself growing more.

 

Ten-Ten Pesigan             

The way she powerfully slayed Fugees’ “Killing Me Softly With His Song” in her blind auditions made this 13-year-old Batangueña an amazing four-chair turner. While the mentors were all praises for her, she still decided to go for Coach Sarah, who deeply appreciated the quality of her voice and the “risks” she did for her number.

 

Cee-Jay Castillo

Another four-chair turner, this 15-year-old self-confessed K-pop fan from Muntinlupa City absolutely pierced the hearts of everyone with her emotive cover of Adele’s “Don’t You Remember,” making all the coaches fight over her. But then, she still chose to take the lane going to Team Sarah since she’s been a fan of the 31-year-old multi-faceted performer.

 

Russel Solis       

Just when he thought that nobody would be impressed by his performance of Ogie Alcasid’s “Dito Sa Puso Ko”, this 16-year-old from Baguio City was obviously thrilled when Coach Sarah made a buzzer-beater turn for him. She cited the solidness and simplicity of his voice as the reasons that convinced her and vowed to help Russel explore his full potential as a singer.

 

Hana Adriano   

This 17-year-old artist from Las Piñas City blew away the minds of Sarah and Bamboo with how she effortlessly and heartily sang her unique version of UDD’s “Tadhana.” Believing that she could easily connect and astoundingly grow with the Popstar Royalty, she chose to become a part of Team Sarah.

Hana also had a different way of divulging the mentor she would want to work with as she just simply flashed the image of Coach Sarah that she drawn on her screen.

 

Jhon Van Lapu  

As he admitted already having difficulties in singing since he’s currently in the puberty stage, this teen artist from Sultan Kudarat was still able to impress Sarah and Lea with his rendition of One Republic’s “Counting Stars”. It was indeed hard to choose between them, but Jhon Van thought that it’s with Coach Sarah that his singing skills will be further honed and he’s able to keep pace easily.

 

Yohann Rulona

He may sound tensed, but that didn’t hinder the Popstar Royalty from noticing the power of this 13-year-old Butuanon’s voice with his cover of Michael Pangilinan’s “Bakit Ba Ikaw.” Thus, she hit the red button for Yohann and expressed her excitement to see him bloom in the next phases of the contest.

 

Hobe Rementizo            

This young Cebuana belter, who was able to captivate all the coaches as her interpretation of Adele’s “One And Only,” was a four-chair turner! Just hearing the first few notes, Coach Sarah didn’t waste any more second to hit the red button for her, as she confessed finding something special in the timbre of her voice that immediately connected to her heart that made her more excited to work with her.

 

Jason Villanueva            

Aside from his good looks and intelligence, another thing worth admiring about this 17-year-old charmer from Butuan City is his vocals, which Coach Sarah – his chosen mentor – described as “beautiful” and “rich”. Coach Lea also tried to win his favour yet to no avail.

 

Andre Parker    

Belting out his own take on Michael Buble’s version of “Feeling Good”, this 15-year-old crooner from Antipolo City was able to make Coach Sarah turn on the last day of the Blind Auditions. Even though his performance fell a bit short for the other coaches, but the Popstar Royalty was still able to find something pleasing in his voice.
